U18’s Clinch Title

COLERAINE FC extends its congratulations to players, staff, volunteers and parents of those involved with the U18’s after sealing the NIFL Academy League title…

The Bannsiders have won 19 and drawn three out of their 25 games so far this campaign, with Larne’s win against Crusaders last night meaning they can’t be caught in the remaining three fixtures.

The U18’s conclude their season with an away trip to Warrenpoint Town this Friday, before travelling to Ballinamallard United the following Wednesday (April 20).

Their final fixture takes place on Saturday, April 23 at home to Portadown with supporters kindly invited to The Showgrounds to show appreciation for their efforts. A confirmed kick-off time will be communicated in due course.

U18’s boss Marty Smith remarked that many of his squad are playing a year up making their achievement that even bit more special.

“I’m delighted for the players,” he said.

“They have worked so hard this year and they showed a real togetherness and spirit throughout the season. Our team is mainly made up from players a year young but that has not phased them one bit.

“A lot of the boys have managed to get game time at our U20s and some have even been involved with the first team so we are really satisfied with the season. We now want to go and finish on a high.

“I would like to thank my coaches Brian and Ronny who have been invaluable to me this season and also the parents of the players, they have been very supportive throughout the season.”

First-team boss Oran Kearney offered his congratulations and outlined that the triumph was “a testament” to the good work at the club.

“This is a great achievement and experience for all involved,” he added.

“A success like this is testament to the good work going on at all levels of the club.”
