Academy Update

COLERAINE Academy teams defied Storm Ciara with impressive performances at the weekend…

Full credit to all our players, coaches and parents who braved difficult cold conditions on Saturday morning to allow Coleraine FC to field 15 underage teams ranging from age 8 to 15.

Despite the bitter cold conditions at UUC, all our small sided games put in strong performances with a couple of age groups playing up and still putting in impressive performances. The enthusiasm and positivism of our kids at such young ages is refreshing and testament to the hard work and commitment of all our volunteers and parents.

Our four National League teams all kicked on with another impressive week. The Under 12 kids played in horrendous blustery conditions and showed great composure winning comfortably. The Under 13 travelled to Belfast and like last week raced into an early lead. Playing with a strong wind they were comfortably ahead at half-time and despite conceding a couple of late goals registered another victory to move towards the top of the table.

The Under 14 team played well and registered a deserved 5-0 win against Oxford. This team has welcomed a number of new signings and is beginning to show great potential. Once again our Under 15 recorded another victory, travelling to Rosario and winning 5-2. The coaches were very appreciative of the warm welcome they received and hospitality shown on a very cold windy day. The under 15 team now progress to the last eight of the Cup.
