Academy visit Children’s Ward

MEMBERS of Coleraine Academy Committee, along with players representing several age groups made a festive visit to the Children’s Ward at Causeway Hospital last night…

Any time spent in hospital is a difficult one let alone during the festive season, and the young Bannsiders were on hand to pay a visit to the Children’s Ward to deliver some Christmas gifts.

Players, coaches and Committee members led by John Gregg (Youth Development Head Coach) spoke to staff at the Children’s Ward as they delivered gifts for the kids.

The money which was raised via parental contributions over the last couple of weeks and from other kind and thoughtful donations, enabled a number of the latest Nintendo Switches, Kindle Fires, personal DVD players, headphones as well as other games and items to be purchased.

Just a small act but hopefully one that goes a long way in giving a little pleasure and entertainment to some of the unfortunate kids who are sick over this holiday period. We were all encouraged and delighted to hear from staff how many of the kids were allowed back to their family homes for Christmas. We even got talking to one of the young patients who is hopefully going home today.

Finally a massive thank you to all the parents/ guardians, and the entire Coleraine FC Academy Family across all the age groups for their generosity. Also to those who contributed through very generous donations. Mention also to staff at Currys in the Coleraine store who went out of their way to help with the gesture.

Not long left now to the big day so we would like to wish all the children and staff at the Children’s Ward a very Happy Christmas.
