COLERAINE FC have six players selected in the annual team of the season released by the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Association in partnership with Uhlsport…
It will be no surprise for supporters to learn that Chris Johns has been selected as the goalkeeper. The fans’ favourite has made 20 clean sheets in all competitions this season and was in impressive form as the Stripes sealed the Irish Cup trophy at the weekend.
The Bannsiders had the best defence in the Danske Bank Premiership and have three players selected in the back four. First of all, Aaron Traynor has been selected as the left-back and the summer signing from Warrenpoint Town has been a reliable member of the squad all season. The centre-half pairing sees Stephen O’Donnell partnering Gareth McConaghie in the heart of the defence. O’Donnell’s leadership qualities has been evident all season, whilst McConaghie was named Man of the Match in the Irish Cup final.
Northern Ireland under-21 internationalists Ciaron Harkin and Jamie McGonigle have also been selected for centre-midfield and striker respectively. The energetic Harkin has featured heavily all season, whilst McGonigle bagged 20 goals in all competitions.
Coleraine FC would like to congratulate all six of the players for their inclusions.
