Bannsiders finding ways to win: Higgins
RUAIDHRI Higgins says he is pleased that his side are finding different ways to win games as they prepare for tomorrow’s visit to Dungannon Swifts…
The Bannsiders make the journey to Stangmore Park for the first time this season after last week’s 1-0 success at home to Ballymena United.
A first half effort from Will Patching ensured all three points for Higgins’ men as they banked an important clean sheet in the process.
“It was a good night at The Showgrounds and loads of people through the gate,” Higgins reflected.
“The only pity was that we didn’t back up our first half performance.
“As I said after the game, we managed to see it out and it’s maybe a game at the start of the season we might not have got over the line.
“James Akintunde has a big chance, Mark Connolly has a big chance even before we scored, so we should have been more comfortable at half time but listen so be it, it’s three points and as I said move on.”
When asked to sum-up his thoughts heading into their next challenge at Dungannon, Higgins added: “I think we’ve put ourselves in a position now where we’re winning games in different ways which is really, really pleasing.
“We know that if it’s a battle we can win that way, if it’s a football game we can win that way.
“Whatever the game throws up at us, I back our players to go on and put in a really committed and good performance.
“We don’t talk about anything else other than the next game. After Larne beat us 3-0 in early January, we were extremely disappointed and really hurt from that performance more than anything.
“But once that was parked, it was just about our next game and we’ve followed that mantra.”
