DEAN Shiels says Coleraine will use the disappointment from their last visit to Mourneview Park ahead of tomorrow’s clash in the Sports Direct Premiership…

The Bannsiders looked like leaving Lurgan with all three back points back in November but Glenavon had different ideas as they rallied from 3-1 down to earn a share of the spoils.

The two teams do it all over again tomorrow and Shiels remarked how he has been impressed by the opponents’ results since Paddy McLaughlin’s arrival.

“They’ve picked up really well and they’ve got good players,” he said.

“It’s a really difficult place to go…it’ll definitely have its challenges.

“We will need to be on it to get something from it.

“We know it’s a long, long time since we won there, so we are hoping to put that to bed this weekend.

“There should be added motivation because we were so good in that game in November.

“I think going 3-1 up and we played some of the best football we have done in the first-half.

“We were outstanding and then we didn’t seem to see the game out by possibly lacking that experience and know-how.

“There were tough elements in the latter part of that game with strong winds and long balls…but hopefully we have learnt from that and can take it into Saturday.”

Shiels also praised his squad for last weekend’s win against Portadown and revealed he will have one defender back at his disposal and another sidelined through suspension.

He added: “I felt we controlled the game last weekend from the first whistle.

“I think we gave up very few chances and then we were a threat throughout the game.

“It was another impressive performance.

“Dean (Jarvis) is back after missing the last two games but Lyndon (Kane) is suspended.

“He picked up his fifth yellow card against Portadown, so he will miss out.

“Obviously Connor (Murray) and Olly (Doherty) went off injured on Saturday, so we are trying to see where they are at.

“They are big doubts for the game, there’s also two other defenders who started the game who are struggling, there’s a few players will illness and a bug.

“It’s not ideal but we will see where we are at come Saturday afternoon.”
