Bannsiders set for League Cup action

COLERAINE welcome Championship outfit Larne to The Showgrounds as the Bannsiders aim to progress to the third round of the BetMcLean.com League Cup (KO 7:45pm)…

Oran Kearney’s men go into the game full of confidence after securing their fourth successive victory against Warrenpoint Town on Friday evening. After a subdued first-half performance, the Stripes’ patience was rewarded 20 minutes from time as Darren McCauley’s strike earned Coleraine all three points at The Showgrounds.

Attention will now turn to the BetMcLean.com League Cup as the Bannsiders take on Larne on the Ballycastle Road. Tiernan Lynch’s side earned their first point of the season last Saturday as they drew 2-2 with Dergview after suffering back-to-back defeats against Portadown and H&W Welders.

Coleraine manager Oran Kearney will be without the services of Lyndon Kane, Gareth McConaghie, David Kee and James McLaughlin through injury. Meanwhile, Ciaron Harkin will also be absent as he is on a pre-arranged trip, as well as Jamie McGonigle who has been called-up to the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad. However, David Ogilby will return to the matchday panel after suspension.

The boss admits he will be wary of Larne who have ‘nothing to lose’ as Coleraine plot cup glory.

“We have gone quite well in the League Cup in recent years,” he added.

“Larne will come here and feel like they have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

“Like any cup ties, there will be a shock on the night and we will make sure it won’t be us.”

As ever, those unable to attend can follow the latest developments via the club’s official Twitter account (@ColeraineFC).

Supporters are reminded that season tickets will NOT be valid for the fixture and rebates can not be used to gain entry. The office and club shop is open from 9am on Tuesday for supporters to top-up their cards.

Admission has been set for £8 adults and £5 concessions.
