COLERAINE FC is delighted to announce the signings of talented teenage duo Cead McGrath and Alex Watson…
The pair, who are both aged 16, have arrived on long-term deals from Derry City and Linfield respectively.
McGrath, who hails from Castlederg, was most recently the captain of Derry City’s U20 squad. The central defender can count Finn Harps, Glentoran and Sligo Rovers as his former clubs.
On the international scene, McGrath has been capped at youth level by both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
McGrath’s move is subject to the completion of international clearance.
Meanwhile, Watson has starred for Linfield predominately in defence, as well as in midfield.
The former Greenisland product made his debut for the Blues in a County Antrim Shield tie against Crusaders last year and played in the Sports Direct Premiership last season.
Watson also has pedigree at international level after representing Northern Ireland at U16 and U17 level.
Speaking about the moves, Bannsiders boss Ruaidhri Higgins said: “We’re absolutely delighted to bring Cead and Alex to Coleraine.
“Both are underage international players who we clearly feel have bright careers ahead of them.
“Cead is a young centre back who I first came across during my time at Derry City. He has real potential and we will work hard with him to fulfil that.
“Alex is a really talented young player who has versatility. We rate him very highly and see a bright future for him at the club.
“Bringing these two lads into the club shows our commitment to building for the long-term.”
