COLERAINE Women played out a hard-fought and tense encounter against a well-drilled Mid Ulster Ladies Reserves side…
Coleraine dominated the first half but struggled to create many clear-cut chances.
However, that would all change when a fantastic delivery from Zara Corrigan lead to an opportunistic finish from Shannon Friel to take the lead.
Not long after, Zara Corrigan then created and scored an impressive debut goal after a Beth Grant breakaway to double the advantage.
Mid-Ulster Ladies put in a spirited revival in the second half and scored an impressive finish from a free-kick to half the arrears.
At the other end, Chelsea Moore was presented with a terrific chance from a super Sam Miskimmon through ball but the ‘keeper closed the angle well to thwart her attempt.
Coleraine then saw their 2-1 lead evaporate as Mid Ulster Ladies equalised with another free-kick to level the scores with 10 minutes to go.
But Coleraine stayed composed and eventually scored late to earn a deserved three points from an excellent Miskimmon finish.
Rachel Stewart cleared a certain goal from the line at the end to ensure that the three points stayed in Coleraine.
One sour note was a bad injury suffered to Coleraine midfielder Caitlin Talbot.
Coleraine Women place on record our huge thanks to Mid Ulster who helped with treatment after the game.
