BENNY the Bannsider is on his travels over the next six weeks as he embarks on the Mongol Rally with four brave souls…

The Mongol Rally is an adventurous, long-distance car rally that started in Czechoslovakia and ends this year in east Kazakhstan.

It’s not a traditional race, but a challenge focused on endurance, creativity, and chaos. Cars must be under 1.2 litres and those entering are entirely on their own for breakdowns, borders and navigation.

The rally started on Sunday, July 13 and will last a total of six weeks – provided their car does not break down.

George Loftus recently became a fan of Coleraine FC and was present during our memorable penalty shoot-out win against Ballymena United in November 2023.

George lives in Shrewsbury in England and has since converted three of his friends (Jon Fowell, Hua Ying Baker and Thomas Suter) to become Coleraine supporters.

Over a year ago the four lads decided to participate in the Mongol Rally – with the aim being to raise money for several charities.

Four Coleraine FC Macron t-shirts were purchased and given to the lads for their journey, along with our and now their “pal” Benny the Bannsider in their vehicle named “No Half Sends”.

We wish the quartet – and our own Benny – the best of luck for the memorable journey.
