LAST night our Reserves continued their scintillating form with a commanding 9-0 victory over Belfast Ravens III’s, firmly cementing their position at the top of the Division 7 Cup table and securing a place in the semi-finals…
From the first whistle, Coleraine looked in complete control, with wave after wave of attacking play. The opening goal came from Leah Pollock, who dazzled the crowd with a fantastic overlapping run, cutting inside before unleashing a thunderous strike into the top right corner.
Alex Bachman-Williams added to the tally with two sharp finishes — the first a calm strike from a low ball across the box, and the second a clinical finish from a corner whipped in by Lucy Hollies, showcasing Coleraine’s threat from set pieces.
The fourth goal came from a smart play by Niya McIntyre, who delivered a low ball in from the corner flag, which was met perfectly by Kyla McGivern for a simple tap-in
Hollies then took matters into her own hands with an explosive run from the halfway line, driving straight into the box. Although her initial shot was saved, she reacted fastest to the rebound and buried it with precision.
McGivern turned provider shortly after, playing a pinpoint ball into Hayley Mathieson, who coolly slotted it past the keeper – much to the delights of the first team spectators cheering their more commonly known goalkeeper loudly.
The goal of the match contender came from Cameron Currie, who struck a stunning shot from the edge of the box, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
Not to be outdone, Suzanne O’Hara got her name on the scoresheet after a superb ball in from McGivern, which she smashed into the back of the net with confidence.
The final goal capped off a flawless team performance: Hollies delivered a pinpoint corner, and McGivern rose highest to head it powerfully home, sealing a sensational 9-0 win.
With such a dominant display and contributions from across the pitch, Coleraine Women’s Reserves are proving themselves serious contenders for the cup. Confidence is sky-high as they march into the semi-finals, with their sights set firmly on silverware.
