Brennan signs pro deal

COLERAINE FC is pleased to announce that Caiolan Brennan has signed forms on a two-year professional contract…

The winger has made five first-team appearances for the club since making his debut against Institute in the North-West Cup back in October 2017.

The 18-year-old has progressed through the ranks at The Showgrounds and travelled to Maribor in the recent Europa League qualifying fixture.

The Coleraine man will spend the first half of the upcoming campaign on loan at Limavady United.

Speaking to colerainefc.com, boss Oran Kearney outlined the reasons for the loan move to Limavady United.

“We are delighted for Caiolan and it’s a big boost for him in relation to the hard graft that he has put in for the last few years,” he said.

“He will go out on loan to Limavady United until Christmas to get some senior football and to begin that journey of breaking the mould between being a young player and trying to get into a first-team.

“We were fortunate in the past when the likes of Lyndon Kane, Brad Lyons and Jamie McGonigle broke through that we were 8th or 9th in the table and had nothing to lose in terms of giving them 40 appearances.

“It’s a bit harder with where we are at in the league and where we would like to be to do that, so it’s up to us to try and find a way to bridge that gap for him.”

Brennan insists it was ‘a dream come true’ to put pen-to-paper on his first contract at The Showgrounds.

“I’m absolutely delighted to get the deal done and get some senior experience out on loan at Limavady United,” he added.

“As a local lad it is a dream to sign for Coleraine so I’m glad it’s over the line.

“I look at how much the likes of Brad Lyons and Lyndon Kane have developed over the years, so hopefully I can replicate that.”
