Brown eager for momentum to continue

RODNEY Brown acknowledged he has to wait for his opportunity after starring in recent games for the Bannsiders…

The big defender has had to bide his time for a return to the starting line-up but has certainly put recent appearances to good use as the Stripes travel to Cliftonville tomorrow afternoon.

Brown conceded that he had no complaints at not making the starting eleven as Oran Kearney’s men racked up seven consecutive clean sheets in the Danske Bank Premiership at one point.

“It was a really good win for us and it keeps the momentum going,” he said after the win against Portadown.

“I thought we were good even before going 1-0 down and it was good to get another win on the board.

“I’ve probably been one of the most frustrated players in the changing room as I’ve been out for so long but there wasn’t much I could do about it as the team was playing well.

“The back five had been brilliant for the past seven or eight weeks and there was a stage where they kept seven consecutive clean sheets, so there wasn’t much I could say.

“I had to wait my time and it’s great to get a few games under my belt.”

Coleraine and Cliftonville lock horns for the fourth time already this season – with the pair also scheduled to square off in the sixth round of the Samuel Gelston’s Whiskey Irish Cup.

“Tomorrow will be a massive game,” Brown added.

“We have drawn them in the Irish Cup as well which isn’t too far away.

“We will go there full of confidence and hopefully we can keep our good run of form going.”
