Canning inks extension

COLERAINE FC is delighted to announce that defender Aaron Canning has agreed a new contract extension with the club…

The defender has been in fine form since re-joining the Bannsiders in August and has put-pen-to-paper on a two-and-a-half-year extension. This deal ties the Limavady man to the club until the end of the 2020/21 season.

The 26-year-old has made 234 appearances for the club to date, scoring six times since making his debut against Tobermore United in September 2009. His startling performances this season has seen him win the Garvagh Kilrea and District Player of the Month award for September and October.

Speaking to colerainefc.com, Bannsiders boss Rodney McAree was delighted to have Canning’s long-term future resolved.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have Aaron contracted to the club for a further two-and-a-half years,” he said.

“His performances since I arrived at the club have been exceptional and I am sure he will kick on now and help Coleraine FC to a successful future.”

Canning was equally as buoyant at the new deal.

“I’m happy to sign on with Coleraine and it was an easy decision,” he added.

“Playing under Rodney has been a pleasure and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

“I’m really enjoying my football here and long may it continue.”
