Carson and Traynor sign new deals

COLERAINE FC is delighted to announce that Josh Carson and Aaron Traynor have penned new three-year deals with the club…

Both players have made significant contributions since joining the Bannsiders at the start of last season from Linfield and Warrenpoint Town respectively. The new contracts will see both players tied down to the club until the summer of 2021. Carson made 40 appearances last season in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and has become a firm fans’ favourite at The Showgrounds. Furthermore, Traynor made 45 appearances but has yet to break his duck in front of goal for the Stripes. His strong performances at full-back was rewarded when he was named in the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Team of the Season.

Coleraine manager Oran Kearney spoke of his delight at getting both players tied down after an impressive debut season on the Ballycastle Road.

“We were keen to get both of them tied down and we are delighted to have achieved that,” Kearney said.

“Josh arrived here after not playing much football at Linfield but he really hit the ground running and was a consistent performer for us.

“Aaron was somewhat unknown but to his credit he has been very reliable and the fact he made the team of the season just highlights that.

“It’s important that we got this business done and I know both players are enjoying their football here.”

After signing on the dotted line, Carson insists there is nowhere else where he’d want to play his football.

“There is nowhere else I would rather be than to be at this football club,” Carson added.

“This is where I want to play my football.

“Oran, the backroom staff and the fans have been fantastic with me and I really appreciate what they’ve done for me this year, and what a year.

“This is now my home, I’m not getting comfortable as I know there is a lot of work still to do and I’m willing to put in the hard yards to achieve more with my team, I’m hungry for success and passionate about my football club and every time I’m called upon I will give 110% for this club always.”

Traynor was also pleased to extend his stay at The Showgrounds.

“I’m delighted to get my future sorted and it was a no brainer,” Traynor continued.

“I have loved my time here at Coleraine so far and I’m sure this is only the start.

“I’d like to thank everyone at the club for how they’ve treated me and it was such a fantastic season with a great bunch of players.”
