Carson left ‘bitterly disappointed’

COLERAINE TV caught up with Josh Carson after the Bannsiders were beaten by Cliftonville at Solitude…

The Reds took a half-time lead through Jamie Harney’s close range header before doubling the advantage on 62 minutes as Paul O’Neill steered the ball over the line from a corner kick.

Coleraine threatened to stage a grandstand finish as Ben Doherty netted from the spot but their challenge was made more difficult as Eoin Bradley received his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

Carson labelled the result as ‘disappointing’ and believes the game could have been different had referee Shane Andrews pointed to the spot inside four minutes as Curtis Allen went to ground inside the area.

The visitors created several chances before and after the break and the former Northern Ireland international admits it is frustrating that the Stripes aren’t being clinical enough in front of goal.

The ex-Ipswich Town ace tried to his best to clear O’Neill’s effort off the line and when questioned if he thought the ball went over, he acknowledged that Aaron Traynor believes that it had done.

Coleraine are on Premiership duty on Tuesday night against Larne at The Showgrounds and Carson is targeting a return to winning ways.
