CHAIRMAN Colin McKendry has used his Christmas message to update fans on the club’s progress…

This year has brought significant changes to Coleraine FC, and while change is never easy, it’s often necessary for progress. As we reflect on the past year and look to the future, I want to update you on the strides we’ve made together.

Change is never easy in any aspect of life—at a football club, it’s even more challenging. Since my Christmas message to you last year, the club has undergone significant transformation. The acquisition by Ranald and Patrick, along with the addition of other investors, including Henry Ross, who recently announced an enhanced stake in the club, has been a major positive step. The ownership group is fully committed to improving the club both on and off the pitch.

The biggest milestone was the decision to transition to a full-time model for the playing staff. This, too, was no easy task. For some players, it wasn’t a feasible option from a career perspective, and others, who combined part-time football with other employment, became unaffordable for the club. Despite these challenges, we collectively decided that an early move to full-time would accelerate progress. Within a short period, the football department was up and running, ready for the new season.

We’ve observed, both in the Irish League and elsewhere, that such transitions are rarely smooth. It has taken some clubs a long time, and arguably, they are still not where they want to be. By learning from others’ experiences, we are taking measured steps. While we acknowledge that we are not yet as competitive as we aim to be, we are on the right track and making steady progress. Our determination to complete this process and continuously improve remains unwavering.

Our squad is young and developing—physically, technically, and tactically. They work hard every day to improve. With additional signings and ongoing player development, we are confident that we will climb the table and establish ourselves as a highly competitive team.

Off the pitch, we’ve also experienced significant change. I want to extend my gratitude to the owners, my fellow directors, the staff, and the volunteers who work tirelessly to drive the club forward. We now have over 1,700 season ticket holders, which is remarkable. Our average attendance of over 2,400 fans is a testament to your incredible support, for which we are truly grateful. We understand the challenges—after all, we are fans too!

Our sponsors and partners also play a vital role, providing much-needed support and stability to the club. We hope they enjoy their association with Coleraine FC and feel the benefits of their involvement. On behalf of the club, I want to express our sincere gratitude to them.

As we look ahead to 2025, we remain focused on further developing the club. We are optimistic about finally sharing some good news regarding stadium development. Additionally, the opening of our new training pitch will benefit players—male and female—across the club and the wider region. Whatever lies ahead, we will strive to keep you, the fans, informed, as we fully recognize that you are the heart of this club.

On behalf of everyone at Coleraine FC, I wish you and your families a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. We look forward to seeing you at The Showgrounds on Boxing Day and throughout the remainder of the season.

C’mon the Bannsiders!
