Clean sheet was a ‘monster effort’ – OK

COLERAINE boss Oran Kearney heaped praise on his players for withstanding a Glenavon charge in the second-half of yesterday’s Irish Cup tie…

The Bannsiders held a half-time lead at Mourneview Park via Jamie Glackin’s strike on nine minutes, but missed further chances to extend the advantage before the break. Marksman James McLaughlin would have a frustrating afternoon as he failed to find the back of the net, but Kearney believes that he is simply going through a patch of form.

Kearney explained that he was fully aware that Glenavon’s season focused on the Irish Cup and was delighted to see his side register a clean sheet as Sammy Clingan, Dylan Davidson and Josh Daniels all came close to equalise prior to Eoin Bradley’s second goal.

The game marked the end of four fixtures in ten days and Kearney remarked that it has been ‘an unbelievable effort’ from his players who should be pleased with what they’ve achieved from their festive schedule.
