‘Clean sheets more important’ – Snowy

AARON Canning spoke to Coleraine TV after he netted the match winner in yesterday’s 1-0 win against Carrick Rangers…

The defender acknowledged how tough the game was against the Amber Army but heaped praise on his team-mates for remaining patient in their efforts to make the breakthrough.

The 29-year-old admits Stephen O’Donnell was unlucky to not score himself as his initial header cannoned off the crossbar, with Canning on hand to blast home his first goal of the season.

The Limavady man has targeted more goals before the end of the campaign but insists clean sheets are more important, as well as previewing Tuesday night’s clash against Glenavon at Mourneview Park.

Coleraine are now in action every Saturday and Tuesday before the end of the campaign, and despite the gruelling schedule ahead, Canning says Irish League footballers are ‘lucky’ to be competing.
