Clinical edge pleases OK

ORAN Kearney believes his side’s clinical edge in front of goal and a first-half resilience provided the perfect tonic in the 2-1 success against Glentoran at The Showgrounds…

The Bannsiders would pick up all three points as Matthew Shevlin’s second-half double was enough to pick the win – despite Paddy McClean pulling a late goal back for the visitors.

Kearney said his players had to cope with a strong wind in the first-half but then produced quality in front of goal as a high press forced Glentoran into two mistakes which were punished by Shevlin.

Kearney also alluded to giving a debut to 16-year-old Aidan Tejada and how a strong cohort of players – who recently won the Centenary Shield – have a big future in the game.
