Club Statement

COLERAINE FC would like to release the following statement ahead of tonight’s Danske Bank Premiership encounter against Glentoran at The Showgrounds…

The Club has been working hard with the PSNI to eradicate anti-social behaviour by a small minority of fans during home and away matches.

As such, the Club wishes to warn any fan who wishes to engage in this type of behaviour or sectarian chanting that they will be identified, removed and banned from the ground.

This also includes the use of pyrotechnics which are banned under the ground regulations and the IFA Disciplinary code.

Chairman Colin McKendry said: “Once again, we are asking a small number of fans to behave accordingly in line with ground regulations.

“We have been in consultation with the PSNI and we want to make it crystal clear that if a supporter is identified as being involved in anti-social behaviour, sectarian chanting or using pyrotechnics, then they will be removed and banned from the ground. It’s as simple as that.

“The lighting and use of pyrotechnics can cause serious injury to a person, as well as damage to the playing surface which is not showing support to the club.

“The Club is in the heart of the community and we want to make it a safe, fun and inclusive place to visit and there are a few supporters who are continuously making this difficult – so please adhere of this warning.

“We have been very blessed to have had such a fantastic support in recent years and we want that to continue.

“Let’s cheer on Oran and the players in the best way possible.”
