FINN Tonks says he is “really excited” to get going with the Bannsiders after completing a permanent switch at The Showgrounds…

The full-back has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at the Ballycastle Road after an agreement was made with AFC Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old, who has enjoyed three spells out on loan at teams in the National League South, remarked how he couldn’t turn down the chance to join Ruaidhri Higgins’ side when interest was made known.

“I’m really excited and I can’t wait to get started,” he said.

“When the opportunity came up, I really wanted to come straight away.

“Having heard the direction the club is wanting to get to and the manager’s style of play, it all really excites me.

“I have lived away from home since the age of 16 and I’ve been out on loan at teams like Torquay, so this is another challenge that I’ve got to embrace and I’m hoping to gain as much experience as possible.”

So, how would Tonks describe his game and how much does he know about the Irish League?

He replied: “I’m quite an attacking full back which means I like to create chances and get balls into the box.

“However, I take the defensive side of the game very seriously and I’d like to think I work very hard by getting up and down the pitch.

“I know how the league works with the 33 games and then the league split etc, and I know Coleraine were the Irish Cup winners last season, so it’s great to be a part of something so exciting.”
