Coleraine complete Burns signing

AARON Burns becomes the latest addition to the squad as the attacker pens a two-and-a-half year deal with the Bannsiders…

The 25-year-old joins from Linfield after scoring 91 goals in 273 appearances for the Blues. Burns becomes the second arrival at The Showgrounds this month after the capture of Stephen Dooley.

Burns – who also had a spell with Portadown – can play in a variety of positions, and manager Oran Kearney is over the moon to have secured his signature amid interest from other clubs.

“Rarely a player of Aaron’s stature and calibre becomes available, he has been there and done it, and has scored many important goals throughout his career,” Kearney said.

“We’ve tracked Aaron since he was made available around three weeks ago and had very positive talks from the beginning and got a real sense that Aaron understood what the club is all about.

“Obviously, when the interest from England arises, it was very important for Aaron to take his time to make a decision that he wouldn’t regret in years to come.

“I urged him to take as long as possible to make that decision as it’s not something that can be rushed.

“It was great to get the call over the weekend from Aaron who was keen to get the deal done and he can’t wait to get started.

“Having been injured pre-Christmas, Aaron is close to resuming full training and we are anticipating his return in the near future.”

The Club can confirm that Burns will wear the number 12 shirt.
