Coleraine sign Benny the Bannsider

COLERAINE FC is pleased to announce the signing of the club’s new mascot, Benny the Bannsider…

Benny will make his first appearance on the biggest stage when he will be there to cheer on his beloved Bannsiders in the BetMcLean League Cup Final at Windsor Park on Sunday.

Our mascot is inspired by the loyal and growing fan-base of the club. He will capture their energy, their fun and their commitment to their club, their team and their community.

Speaking about signing for the Bannsiders, Benny said “……..”, nothing!

However, commenting on his behalf, Coleraine’s Commercial Manager, Clement Dealey said, “The Bannsiders is so close to the hearts of so many people and we want to share that passion for our club with as many people as possible. Benny will be the face of the club every minute of the week outside of the games. During the games he will join the fans in whole-heartedly supporting the team.

‘I would like to thank Benny’s main sponsor, JW Service Centre who have made this possible and I am pleased to announce that, in honour of the club’s league title win in 1974, Benny’s squad number will be 74.”

As one of, literally, the biggest additions to the club in its history, it is important that Benny has the support of the manager, his back-room staff and the players. Oran Kearney welcomed his latest signing saying, “We feed off the energy generated by the fans and having Benny alongside us every week will raise that noise level even more. I welcome Benny the Bannsider to our club and our squad and I look forward to enjoying his performances week in and week out.”

Benny will make his first appearance on Sunday at Windsor Park; however, he will make his home debut on Saturday March 26th when Coleraine welcome Glenavon to the Showgrounds and Benny is planning to make it a “Big Day Out” so watch out for details in the coming days.
