COLERAINE FC was delighted to officially open the new community pitch based at The Showgrounds…
The pitch, which was completed thanks to funding from the Irish FA and DCMS Grassroots Facility Investment Fund, has already played a massive role in the community such as our ‘Man On’ project and hosting games at the 2025 Foyle Cup tournament.
The pitch was officially opened by Irish FA President Conrad Kirkwood at an event on Wednesday, February 4, with Henry Ross, Colin McKendry and Dale Pryde-MacDonald present on behalf of the club.
We would also like to thank Mayor Oliver McMullan, representatives from Causeway Coast and Glens Council, local MLA’s, Northwest Football Association, CC&G Chamber of Commerce, personnel from Coleraine Future Town Fund, Maria & Emma Diamond from Coleraine FC Women’s Team and Reece Mulholland representing the Man on Men’s mental health programme for attending.
Speaking about the importance of the new pitch for the local community, Chief Executive Officer, Dale Pryde-MacDonald, said: “As a club we are really proud to officially open the new Community pitch here at The Showgrounds, thanks to key funding from the Irish FA & DCMS Grassroots Facility Investment Fund.”
“The community pitch will be a vital asset to our local community moving forward and will allow the club to grow our community outreach to meet the needs of our local people.”
“The new surface will also address the demand for further facilities in the Northwest and offer other community groups, organisations and local schools a place that can be used for engagement and participation.”
“Our thanks go to the Coleraine FC project management team, the Irish FA’s facilities team as well as DCMS for making this happen and providing a really positive step forward for sport in Coleraine.”
Everyone at Coleraine FC once again thanks David Boyd and Bobby Farren for delivering the project on behalf of Coleraine Football Club.
