Interview

Davidson wanting to prove doubters wrong

colerainefc.com’s Jonathan McNabb caught up with Dylan Davidson for the first time after the winger completed his move to The Showgrounds…

The 19-year-old inked a two-and-a-half year deal following a spell with Glentoran to become Rodney McAree’s fifth addition in the January transfer window.

The former Preston North End trainee insists he had heard ‘good reports’ about the club before putting pen-to-paper on the move.

“I had a good chat with Rodney who sold the club extremely well,” he said.

“I know it is a good club, with a great fan base and anyone I spoke to about Coleraine gave me good reports.

“I didn’t speak to Curtis Allen before moving but he sent me a message wishing me all the best and that it’s a good club.

“I know that Coleraine is heading in the right direction and I want to fight for silverware and play in the big games.

“Coleraine have been challenging in recent years so that was a major factor in my move here.

“I want to prove those who doubt me wrong and really kick on at Coleraine.”

Davidson admits he is comfortable playing on either wing and is relishing the fight for a starting jersey.

“I can operate on either wing but I’d be happy to play anywhere,” he added.

“My main strength would be my crossing and providing chances to the strikers.

“I know there is a strong competition for places here and you have to be on top form if you want to keep your place.

“I’m eager to work hard and stay in the team.”

Davidson was unable to feature against Ards last weekend but is in line to make his debut on Saturday against Dungannon Swifts.

“It was disappointing that my registration wasn’t cleared in time last Friday,” he concluded.

“But that’s football and I’ve put it to the side.

“My sole focus is on Dungannon Swifts and hopefully we can pick up all three points.”
