Deane for Good

COLERAINE FC is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Gareth Deane…

The shot stopper has turned his short-term loan move into a permanent switch as he has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at The Showgrounds.

The ex-Linfield man has made four appearances for the club since joining in July, appearing in the Europa League wins against La Fiorita and NK Maribor.

The 26-year-old made 52 appearances for the Blues and has lifted the Danske Bank Premiership on three occasions, as well as the Irish Cup and League Cup.

Deane also had a spell on loan with Carrick Rangers during the 2013/14 campaign.

Boss Oran Kearney spoke of his delight at securing the services of a ‘keeper that he rates as one of the best in the country.

“We are delighted to get everything done and welcome Gareth to the club on a permanent basis,” he said.

“When Chris left we were on a hunt to secure a goalkeeper as close to the standard of Chris and Gareth ticks all the boxes.

“Ability wise I think he is right up there with the best in the country and the only thing that has hampered him in recent years is game time due to freakish injuries.

“However, I do believe with a run of games he will fulfil his true potential and with this two-year deal we can invest a huge amount of time into him.

“I would like to thank Linfield who were helpful in getting the deal over the line.”
