Match Preview

Destination Solitude

COLERAINE will be looking for a return to winning ways as they are the visitors to Solitude tomorrow afternoon (KO 3pm)…

Danske Bank Premiership

Overview:

Coleraine come into the fixture on the back of a seventeen match unbeaten run which sees them sit in second position in the Danske Bank Premiership. The Bannsiders were last in action on Tuesday night as they salvaged a point at Mourneview Park against Glenavon as Stephen Lowry’s deflected strike found the top corner.

The Reds were not in action on Tuesday night so will be well rested, with their last encounter ending in a 0-0 draw away to Larne. Paddy McLaughlin’s side are currently in 5th position in the table as they continue to chase down the teams ahead of them in the table.

Previous meetings:

This will be the third time the two clubs have met this season with the Bannsiders claiming the first just before Christmas. After a goalless first-half, James McLaughlin was introduced from the bench to open the scoring with a header, before the marksman sealed all three points late on with a composed finish.

Last month, Cliftonville were the visitors to The Showgrounds and they took a 4th minute lead through a lob from Rory Hale, but Coleraine turned the game on its head to lead at the break as Aaron Traynor and James McLaughlin found the back of the net. Just when it looked like Kearney’s men would hang on for victory, they were sucker punched at the death as Daire O’Connor’s cross was bundled home by Paul O’Neill.

Manager’s Thoughts:

“It’s all systems go at this moment in time,” Kearney said.

“We will have to recharge the batteries and make sure we hit the ground running.

“The way it’s going, not an 11 man game it’s a 14 man game.

“You need all three to come and add to it.”
