RONAN Doherty says he is absolutely loving his time at Coleraine so far following his January move to The Showgrounds…

The midfielder has been a mainstay in the Bannsiders’ engine room after making the winter move from Cliftonville.

The move marked the 29-year-old’s first taste of full-time football and it is something he says he has embraced.

“I’m absolutely loving it and it’s my first experience of full-time football,” he said.

“I get on with the lads well, it’s good craic and they’ve made me feel welcome.

“It hasn’t taken much time to settle in…so I love training through the day and it’s hard to beat.

“It’s a good bunch of lads and I’m getting on with everybody.

“I had a bruise on my foot and there was nothing I could do.

“It was more or less rest for a week to ten days, it’s gone now, there’s no excuses now and let’s move onto Saturday.”

Coleraine are the visitors to Crusaders this afternoon and Doherty acknowledged how there’s a determination within the ranks to secure fourth spot and bounce back from last weekend’s loss to Larne.

He stated: “I think when you lose a game…the next one is massive and it’s about bouncing back.

“It’s about moving onto Crusaders which is a tough place to go but we’ve been working hard all week for the game against them.

“We fancy ourselves against anybody at the minute, we have no fear and it’s about getting back to winning ways now.

“Finishing fourth would get you home advantage in the play-off.

“It’s massive when it comes down to it, so a big win on Saturday would give us a high chance of finishing fourth.

“There’s still a lot to play for, although that’s as high as we can finish.”
