Double Delight

PATRICK Kelly would play his part as Northern Ireland U19’s registered back-to-back victories against Malta this week…

The Green and White Army secured a 6-0 win in the first of those contests on Thursday, with Kelly being a used substitute for Gerard Lyttle’s side at the Malta Football Association training complex in Ta Qali.

The visitors would find the second fixture a more competitive affair as Kelly started in a 2-1 win for the Province against the hosts.

This week’s friendlies against Malta were the final preparation games prior to Euro qualifiers this autumn.

Northern Ireland have been drawn in Group 13 of the 2022-23 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying round along with Netherlands (hosts), Slovenia and Moldova. Their four-team mini tournament is scheduled to be staged from 21 to 27 September. Malta is set to host the finals next year.

Well done, Patrick!
