COLERAINE would win a derby day contest in 2010 as they battled to a 3-1 success against Ballymena United at The Showgrounds…

Date:

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Result:

Coleraine 3-1 Ballymena United

Goals – Boyce (‘2 mins), Carson (’77 mins), Dooley (’87 mins); Cushley (’60 mins)

Report:

Coleraine continued their superb home form by beating nine-man Ballymena United on Tuesday night.

Darren Boyce gave the Bannsiders the lead after just 73 seconds.

United’s Chris Ramsey was sent-off for a challenge on Rory Patterson in the 31st minute but Ballymena equalised on the hour through David Cushley.

Noel Anderson was dismissed for a second yellow card offence before goals from Stephen Carson (77) and Stephen Dooley (87) sealed out for Coleraine.

David Platt’s Coleraine, beaten only once at home in the league this season, stay in sixth place but are just a point behind Dungannon with two games in hand.

Meanwhile, United will be particularly unhappy with the dismissal of former Coleraine player Anderson on 73 minutes.

He went down under a challenge from Kyle McVey and referee Alan Black saw it as a dive and gave Anderson his second yellow of the evening.
