Report:

Linfield were knocked off the top of the Premiership table as they went down 4-2 to Coleraine at Windsor Park.

Rory Patterson rounded Alan Blayney and scored from a tight angle in the 38th minute and substitute Richard Gibson netted the second two minutes later.

Patterson fired home his second in the 47th minute but Jim Ervin pulled one back with a 50th-minute penalty.

Patterson set up Gibson for Coleraine’s fourth on 80 and Mark McAllister pulled one back with a volley a minute later.

Curtis Allen was unable to convert an early chance for Linfield, while Peter Thompson also squandered a scoring opportunity.

Patterson accepted a pass, took one touch and scored the opener and then Gibson made it 2-0 after good work by Stephen Carson when the home side failed to clear.

Patterson thumped in the third after a poor attempted backpass by Stephen Douglas but Ervin through his side a lifeline with his penalty after referee Raymond Crangle adjudged that John Watt had brought down McAllister inside the area.

Thompson hit the sidenetting when he should have done better but Gibson slid the ball home from a yard out after Patterson set him up.

McAllister got on the scoresheet with a stunning 25-yard effort into the top left-hand corner but the former Dungannon striker saw a left-foot effort saved by Davy O’Hare soon after.

Thompson hooked the ball over the bar in the final minute.
