PAT McAllister came off the bench to net a winner at Windsor Park as the Bannsiders edged out Linfield in November 1996…

Date:

Saturday, November 16, 1996.

Result:

Linfield 2-3 Coleraine

Goals – McBride, Millar; McCallan, O’Dowd, McAllister.

ohnny McIvor takes on Linfield’s Noel Baillie at Windsor Park.

Report:

Ask Pat McAllister to name his favourite ground and Windsor Park has to rank among the best.

He scored there for the second time this season when he came off the bench on Saturday to head the winner against Linfield.

David McCallan headed home a Robbie Brunton free kick to open the scoring and Greg O’Dowd hit a wonderful volley from a Brunton cross field pass.

Linfield pulled the score back to 2-2 but McAllister scored Coleraine’s deserved winner six minutes from time.

It may have been nerve-wracking but what a way for Kenny Shiels to end his dressing room and touchline ban! Two goals in front, Kenny watched as Linfield hit back to draw level
with just nine minutes remaining.

But then Pat McAllister came to the rescue with a goal that keeps Coleraine ten points ahead of the Blues and eight points ahead of nearest challengers Crusaders and Portadown.
