COLERAINE pair Senan Devine and Alex Watson competed in all their respective games for Northern Ireland U19s over the last week…

As previously communicated, Northern Ireland had two teams competing at Under-19 level in Euro qualifiers this month.

Senan Devine was part of Gareth McAuley’s 20-man squad for contests against Ukraine, Romania and Kazakhstan.

The midfielder came off the bench for the first two games as Northern Ireland were beaten 1-0 by Ukraine, before drawing a blank against hosts Romania.

Senan started the final game as Northern Ireland beat Kazakhstan by a 1-0 scoreline.

The results means Northern Ireland finished second in their elite round group.

Meanwhile, Alex Watson was named in Kris Lindsay’s panel competing in the first qualifying round for games against hosts Lithuania and Azerbaijan in a mini tournament.

Alex started both games as Northern Ireland came from behind to beat Azerbaijan via a 2-1 scoreline, before the Green and White Army drew 0-0 with Lithuania.

The result means Northern Ireland U19s will remain in League B for round two of the qualifiers for UEFA U19 Euro 2027 this autumn. Lithuania topped the group ahead of them on goal difference.
