Enough is Enough

COLERAINE FC is joining sporting clubs across the United Kingdom by boycotting social media in a move to tackle abuse and discrimination…

The boycott begins today at 3pm and will end at 23:59 on Monday.

Clubs from the Premier League, English Football League, Women’s Super League, Scottish Professional Football League, as well as governing bodies including the Football Association, Scottish FA, Football Association of Wales and Irish Football Association are joining four-day boycott.

Other sports such as rugby union, cricket, rugby league, hockey and horse racing are also involved.

Coleraine Chairman Colin McKendry said: “We have joined the campaign as we believe online abuse of all nature should stop.

“Social media has a massive impact on people’s mental health and I firmly believe more should be done to bring this to an end.

“It is our aim that this boycott reminds everyone that the essential value of football is that it’s a sport open to all.”

The boycott means we will be unable to bring you matchday coverage from tomorrow’s game against Cliftonville on our social media sites, however, we will still be uploading all the required information on our website.

Furthermore, supporters are reminded that they can watch tomorrow’s match against Cliftonville via the 247.tv platform HERE.
