COLERAINE Women Reserves produced an excellent performance to secure a deserved 5–2 victory over 22nd Ladies last night…

Although the first half ended goalless, Coleraine settled into the game quickly and dominated possession, creating a number of chances through some superb passages of play.

The breakthrough came when Saoirse Thorne finished off a fantastic team move, cutting inside her defender before burying her effort into the back of the net. 22nd responded with a long-range strike to level the scores at 1-1.

However, Coleraine regained the lead through Ursula Rakowska, who fired home first time after a pinpoint long ball from Emma Diamond was expertly controlled and laid off by Charlotte McAllister. Lindsay Norton then made it 3-1 with a brilliant strike that flew in off the crossbar.

The home side continued to play some excellent football and extended their advantage when Charlotte McAllister timed her run perfectly to finish coolly after great play down the wing involving Thorne.

Thornee then capped off a superb performance with her second goal of the afternoon, a long-range effort that caught the goalkeeper out and made it 5-1. An unfortunate handball late on allowed 22nd to pull a goal back from the penalty spot, but it was only a consolation as Coleraine saw out the game comfortably.

A dominant display from Coleraine Women Reserves, whose quality in possession, attacking intent and teamwork were rewarded with an impressive 5–2 win.
