COLERAINE will hope to reach the North-West Senior Cup final for the first time since 2017 as they welcome Dergview to The Showgrounds (KO 2pm)…

Eventsec North-West Cup Semi-Final

Overview:

The Bannsiders reached the semi-final stage of the competition last Tuesday night following a routine victory against Portstewart at The Showgrounds. A goal in the first-half from Curtis Allen added to Jamie Glackin’s clever finish after the break sealed a 2-0 win against the Seahawks.

Dergview were in fine form in their quarter-final clash as Ivan Sproule’s men beat Maiden City, with former Bannsider Matthew Kirk getting on the scoresheet in a 5-0 win. The Castlederg outfit have been busy adding to their squad with Graham Crown expected to line-up against his former employers.

Recent meetings:

The last competitive fixture between the two sides was back in February 2019 as Coleraine welcomed Dergview to The Showgrounds in the Irish Cup. The Bannsiders made a perfect start as Ben Doherty rifled home after only three minutes, before the lead was doubled before the break as James McLaughlin profited from close range. The victory was completed on 70 minutes as Dean Shiels came off the bench to net on his debut.

Coleraine and Dergview played out a goalless pre-season friendly just two weeks ago as Oran Kearney fielded a mixture of first-team players and under-20 members.

Manager’s Thoughts:

“We will be mixing and matching between this game and the one against Loughgall,” Kearney said,

“We are making sure people get 90 minutes and topping up ahead of the season.

“We want to get to the final and that’s what our focus is on.”
