COLERAINE served up late drama at The Oval as Lewis McGregor's stoppage-time winner earned all points against Glentoran...

There would be two changes from the derby victory against Ballymena United as Adam Brooks was handed his first league start, with Joel Cooper also given the nod from the get-go as Senan Devine and Dylan Boyle dropped down to the bench.

Coleraine settled quickly and created numerous early opportunities as Ben Doherty's ball over the top picked out the run of Matthew Shevlin. The striker managed to out pace Marcus Kane but his shot was palmed away to safety by Billy Crellin.

A minute later, a fine team move on the left-hand side between Will Patching and Jay Henderson resulted in the latter centring the ball to the edge of the box. The ball landed at the boot of Joel Cooper but his first-time volley failed to land below the crossbar.

Just after Henderson had a weak shot saved, Coleraine threatened again as the lively Doherty sent a dangerous cross into the area where a stretching Shevlin was unable to stab home.

Glentoran then showed their attacking instinct as they went mightily close to taking the lead when Ross Clarke drilled a low ball across the face of goal but there was no takers, before Greg Sloggett's thumping strike was saved by Lewis Webb.

Just before the half hour mark, Webb was called into action yet again as Jordan Stewart received the ball just inside the box. The attacker was able to give himself a yard of space for a shot which was tipped away by the Coleraine custodian.

An entertaining opening 45 minutes didn't yield a goal but it wasn't for the want of trying as both teams certainly had their chances.

Neither side elected to make changes at the interval and Coleraine threatened first when Patching's free-kick was cleared as far as Cooper who saw a curling attempt go just the wrong side of the far post.

Cooper was involved in the heart of the action yet again as he managed to pick the ball inside Glentoran's penalty box with his attempt being thwarted by an onrushing Crellin. Soon after, Doherty's free-kick from the edge of the box was also saved by the Glens 'keeper.

However, Coleraine managed to make the breakthrough as substitute Joe Thomson netted against his former side on 72 minutes. An aerial duel between Crellin and Shevlin saw the Glentoran 'keeper punch the ball as far as Thomson who was in the right place to stroke home his first goal for the club.

But Glentoran fought back to level on 83 minutes as a cross into the box wasn't cleared by the Bannsiders, with the ball adjudged to have trickled over the line following a touch by Jordan Jenkins.

The drama would continue as Coleraine bagged all three points in stoppage-time with virtually the last action of the game. The ball was kept alive on the left-hand side and squared for Lewis McGregor who made no mistake from close range.
