COLERAINE booked their spot in the final of the North-West Senior Cup after a 4-1 success against Limavady United at The Showgrounds...

Ruaidhri Higgins used the fixture to give minutes to those who needed them and they threatened first on four minutes when Adam Brooks was denied by Fintan Doherty.

But a strong start paid off as Coleraine took the lead less than sixty seconds later. A cross by Connor Murray picked out his fellow Scotsman Lewis McGregor and he sent a looping header over Doherty and into the net.

On 14 minutes, the same two players combined as the Bannsiders doubled their advantage. This time it was McGregor who was the provider as he played through Murray who made no mistake from 12 yards.

Coleraine, who beat Dergview in the previous round, then further tightened their grip on the contest as they netted a third on 25 minutes. An attempted clearance by Limavady stopper Doherty only landed as far as Joe Thomson who headed in an astonishing goal from fully 25 yards

However, Limavady quickly pulled a goal back as Luke Fleming's strike from the edge of the box found the back of the net as Coleraine went into the interval with a 3-1 lead.

Higgins then made a quartet of changes by the hour mark as youngsters Luke McCourt, Oli Devlin, Odhran McHugh and Conor Wilson were given the chance to shine.

The Bannsiders still carried an attacking threat as Brooks showed great pace to escape the attention of the Limavady defence, but again, he was thwarted by a good save from Doherty.

On 77 minutes, McHugh, who was in the recent Northern Ireland U17 squad, was the next to be denied by Doherty after he managed to create space for a shot.

From the resulting phase of play, Coleraine made it 4-1 as Thomson's corner kick ended up seeing Ruairi Boorman score an unfortunate own goal.

After Brooks saw another effort being saved by Doherty, there would be no further action as the Bannsiders set-up a final date against either Institute or Moyola Park.
