Friday Night Football at The Showgrounds

COLERAINE aim to make it four wins from as many games as they take on Warrenpoint Town at The Showgrounds (KO 8pm)…

The Bannsiders earned their third successive victory last weekend as they beat Crusaders at Seaview for the first time since January 2010. As for the visitors, Matthew Tipton’s side picked up their first three points of the season courtesy of Darren Murray’s second-half strike against Ards.

The ‘Point were victorious the last time the two sides met as a brace from Stephen Murray helped Town to a 3-0 win at Milltown in January 2016. There will be a familiar face in the Warrenpoint Town squad as Neil McCafferty joined the club last month.

Coleraine manager Oran Kearney will be without the services of Lyndon Kane (metatarsal), Gareth McConaghie (back), David Kee (knee) and James McLaughlin (knee). Meanwhile, defender David Ogilby is ruled out through suspension.

Kearney is expecting a tough game against a team with a ‘winning habit’ after securing promotion from the NIFL Championship last season.

“I know a lot about Matthew Tipton and Warrenpoint Town,” he said.

“They are a good side and can cause teams a lot of problems.

“They are a team with a winning habit after securing promotion last season.

“They have signed a lot of good players who have Premiership experience.

“They will be no pushovers and there never is in this league.

“We will treat them with the same respect we have treated the other three teams we have faced.”
