GARETH McConaghie becomes the latest player to agree a new contract with the Bannsiders…

The central defender has inked a two year extension to his existing deal that ties him down to the club until the end of the 2020/21 season.

The Dervock man has made 82 appearances for the Stripes, scoring six times since making his debut against Linfield in August 2016. His performances since arriving at The Showgrounds has helped the Bannsiders qualify for Europe in successive seasons, reach back-to-back Irish Cup finals and he was named in the NIFWA Team of the Season for 2017/18.

Speaking to colerainefc.com, boss Rodney McAree praised the 30-year-old’s contribution to team affairs both on and off the pitch since he took charge at The Showgrounds.

‘I’m delighted that Gareth sees his future at Coleraine,” he said.

“He has been top class since I’ve arrived at the club both on and off the pitch.

“It is great that he has committed his future to the club and he is a vital part of the team.”

McConaghie also spoke of his delight at penning the extension.

“It’s great to have committed my future to the club,” McConaghie said.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here and I’m looking forward to the future under Rodney.

“It’s a great changing room and we want to keep motoring on.”
