Game by game basis for Higgins
RUAIDHRI Higgins says the Bannsiders can ill-afford to look too far ahead as they prepare for a busy month on three different fronts…
The Stripes start a busy period of fixtures at Bangor tomorrow afternoon – with four successive away fixtures pencilled into the schedule in the North-West Cup and BetMcLean Cup to follow.
Despite October being set to test the squad, Higgins outlined how they’ll solely take it game-by-game.
“It’s a game at a time because, as I’ve said previously, you get caught out if you look too far ahead,” he said.
“We have a big enough task now on Saturday to go to Bangor and win and that’s our only attention at the minute.
“Lewis McGregor has a bit of an ankle injury, obviously Lyndon still remains out.
“Charles (Dunne) is getting closer and then we’ve got the long-term lads.
“But as I said, any time we take the pitch, we’ll have a team good enough on the pitch to try and win the game.”
Bangor have made a steady start since their return back to the top-flight and Higgins is expecting a stern test against Lee Feeney’s side.
“Listen, particularly at home, they’re going to be a real match for anybody,” he stated.
“If you watched the game last week against Linfield, there weren’t loads in it, bar the goals.
“I think they showed real courage and bravery in how they tried to pass the ball out from the back. They stuck to their principles about how they want to play and I admire them for that.
“They’ll try and play, we’ll try and play. Hopefully we come out on the right end of the result.”
