Girl Power

THE Showgrounds was alive with the sound of laugher, fun and football as over 180 pupils from 18 local primary schools attended a festival of football…

The event was organized by Coleraine FC Girls and Ladies Development Officer, Gareth Scott, in collaboration with students from the Coleraine FC full-time Football and Education Academy, as well as Causeway Coast and Glens Sports Development Officer, Stephen McCartney.

With 36 matches in total, there was no shortage of goals, celebrations, and top-class saves on show.

The event aimed to provide an opportunity for girls of all abilities to experience the joys of the beautiful game and to increase awareness of the Girls and Ladies section of Coleraine FC.

Gareth Scott, Girls and Ladies Development Manager for Coleraine FC commented: “Events like these are vitally important so that young girls can experience the sport we all love and to show them that it is possible for them to play football in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.

“Additionally, we want to show the local community that the Coleraine FC Girls and Ladies section is open and ready to provide opportunities like this for any girl who wishes to get involved.”
