Happy New Year

COLERAINE FC is delighted to announce that Lyndon Kane has agreed to extend his stay at The Showgrounds…

The defender has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal – with the option of a third – which ties him down to the club until the end of the 2021-22 season.

Kane made his league debut against Glentoran in October 2014 and has made 131 appearances for his boyhood club to date. In recent months, the 22-year-old has captained the club in the absence of skipper Stephen O’Donnell.

Speaking to colerainefc.com, boss Oran Kearney spoke of his delight at the news as the Bannsiders enter 2020.

“I am over the moon that Lyndon has agreed to stay at the club,” he said.

“It has been well documented the injuries Lyndon has suffered in the last couple of years, but it is testament to him that he has got over them and looks back to his best.

“He was quick to remind me that he has played more games this season than the last two combined, so touch wood, he can look forward to a promising career.”

Kane – who made his breakthrough into the first-team after featuring for the Reserves – insists the club is ‘very close to his heart’ and wants to add more silverware during his time on the Ballycastle Road.

“I am delighted have signed a new deal,” he added.

“The club is very close to my heart and it’s great to be staying on.

“They’ve done a lot for me over the past few seasons with my injuries and it’s great to be working under Oran again.

“Hopefully we can add more silverware to the Irish Cup triumph from 2018.”
