RUAIDHRI Higgins says Coleraine have a lot to play for as the post-split fixtures starts with a visit to Dungannon Swifts…

The Bannsiders make their way to Stangmore Park for the second time this season, fresh off the back of a battling 1-1 draw against Glentoran last time out after playing the entire second half with ten men.

Coleraine were beaten 3-1 by the Swifts in that previous contest and Higgins wants a better showing from his players this time around.

He said: “We recently went to Stangmore Park and it was a poor day for us.

“Hopefully we have learned from that and have a better outcome this time around.

“Since that defeat, we have responded quite positively and we want to win as many games as we can.

“We know there are five Premiership games left, so there’s a lot to play for.”

The club have been successful in their appeal against Rowan McDonald’s dismissal last weekend, meaning the Englishman is eligible to feature against the Swifts.

Lyndon Kane, Kodi Lyons-Foster and Connor Murray gained valuable minutes for the club’s U20 side on Monday night.

“We expected Rowan’s red card to be rescinded,” Higgins stated.

“It is the common sense decision and whilst it cost us on the day again, it is great to have Rowan available for the coming weeks.

“We obviously lost James Akintunde last week and Matthew Shevlin is hurt, with Jamie McGonigle also having to come off last weekend, so we are down bodies in the striking department but that’s the nature of this time of the season.”
