Higgins pleased to have duo back
RUAIDHRI Higgins says he is delighted to have midfielders Jamie Glackin and Will Patching back at disposal as he prepares for tonight’s ‘big, big game’ against Portadown…
The Bannsiders welcome Niall Currie’s men to The Showgrounds this evening in the Sports Direct Premiership (KO 7.45pm).
Glackin and Patching made their returns from injury in last weekend’s Irish Cup victory against Carrick Rangers, and despite being thrilled at being able to call upon their services, Higgins revealed he has fitness concerns over three other members of his panel.
“Glackin was out for five and a half, six weeks, but because it was a shoulder injury, he was still able to do a lot of running,” Higgins stated.
“So, fitness levels, he didn’t lose too much. He’s a fit boy anyway by nature.
“Patching…great to get him back on the pitch. He had a minor niggle that we weren’t prepared to take any risks with, but it’s great to have him back on the pitch and available again.
“Cameron Stewart got an ankle injury at the weekend and Rowan McDonald, a groin injury. Both of them will get scanned to see where it’s at. Obviously, Lyndon Kane has had a bit of a setback with his ankle as well.
“In that area of the pitch, we’re down numbers, but again, we have a very versatile group of players and we’ll be okay.”
Coleraine have been on their travels for their last three games in all competitions and Higgins would love to see a big crowd as his squad return to The Showgrounds.
“Our supporters, when they come out in their numbers, can make such a difference,” he added.
“Tuesday night is a big game…it’s a really big game.
“We need people out here and getting right behind the team.”
