Inver Inbound

COLERAINE boss Oran Kearney has challenged his players to show ‘their ruthless side’ as the Bannsiders are on their travels this evening as they face in-form Larne at Inver Park (KO 7:45pm)…

Danske Bank Premiership

Overview:

Oran Kearney’s men made it four successive wins in the Premiership last weekend as goals from Aaron Jarvis and Eoin Bradley sealed a 2-0 win against Dungannon Swifts. Those three points moved the Stripes up to fifth spot in the table ahead of a busy run of fixtures.

Larne were involved in a goal fest draw with Crusaders last time out as they lead 2-0 and 3-2 against the Hatchetmen but they were forced to settle for a share of the spoils after a late penalty from Ben Kennedy. Tiernan Lynch’s side are second in the table and have already tasted success in the County Antrim Shield.

Previous meetings:

The two sides met back in November as the visitors left with all three points courtesy of a first-half double from Davy McDaid. On 11 minutes, the deadlock was broken as a long ball by Albert Watson was met by Ronan Hale and after the striker was able to hold the ball up, McDaid unleashed an unstoppable effort beyond the reach of Deane. Five minutes before the break, the visitors grabbed a second as Herron and McDaid combined, with the ex-Coleraine striker finishing past Deane for his second of the afternoon.

Manager’s Thoughts:

“Our games with Larne are always tight,” said Kearney.

“Larne, to be fair, came here and beat us 2-0 and were very good in the first half. We were very good in the second half, but didn’t put the ball in the back of the net.

“For us, it’s important that when we go down there, we’ve got to take our lessons from the game against Dungannon Swifts and show more of a ruthless side.”
