Job done for OK

COLERAINE manager Oran Kearney admitted he would have liked to have seen his troops bag an important third goal in last night’s win against Glenavon…

The Bannsiders led 2-0 at the break through goals from Stewart Nixon and James McLaughlin, and after missing several chances before and after the half-time whistle to make it a comfortable evening, Glenavon would find a route back into the game as Conor McCloskey’s free-kick found the back of the net.

However, despite wanting that killer instinct, the manager was pleased to see players defend resolutely and secure the win which sees them cut the gap at the top of the table to four points.

Nixon’s goal was his first since arriving in the January transfer window and Kearney revealed that he asked the 22-year-old to play with ‘a swagger and with his shoulders back’.

McLaughlin’s effort was his third goal in four matches but Kearney highlighted the striker’s ‘impressive work rate’ and hopes the injury to Aaron Jarvis isn’t too serious.
