Joy for Jarvy

COLERAINE midfielder Aaron Jarvis was delighted to make his return to the starting eleven as the Bannsiders picked up a 3-0 win against Carrick Rangers…

Kearney’s troops made it a first win in eight outings in the Premiership as Rodney Brown and Lyndon Kane were on the scoresheet – either side of a Steven Gordon own goal.

The Stripes had found goals hard to come by during that period but there was no drought this time around as they put the visitors to the sword to remain in sixth spot in the standings.

“It’s good to get back on the pitch again with a 3-0 win and I thought we were very good,” Jarvis told Coleraine TV.

“I thought we hunted them down, kept the ball well throughout the game and we thoroughly deserved our win.

“We were brilliant in front of goal and James and Curtis upfront were very good.

“The whole team was very good going forward and it was great to get the three goals.

The start was Jarvis’ first in the Premiership since the end of August, and despite wanting more game time, the ex-Institute ace was understanding of the good form produced by Josh Carson and Stephen Lowry.

“There was maybe a little bit of frustration there,” he added.

“However, Stephen Lowry and Josh Carson have been brilliant in there throughout the season, so there’s no complaints from me.

“Sometimes you have to suck it up and take your oil in that way.

“Hopefully I done enough to stay in the team, kick on in the next few weeks and get results.

“Stevie is brilliant to play alongside.

“I asked him how he was after game and his answer is always good – he’s simply a machine.”

Coleraine have a quick turnaround as they face Glentoran on Tuesday night and Jarvis hopes he has done enough to remain in the starting eleven for the clash at The Oval.

“Glentoran are flying and I’ve watched a few of their games in recent weeks,” he concluded.

“They are playing really good football and they’ve signed a few big name players.

“We are under no illusions about how tough it’s going to be but hopefully we can go down there and make a good account of ourselves.”
