Kearney delight as O’Donnell signs contract extension

COLERAINE FC is delighted to announce that Stephen O’Donnell has agreed a contract extension with the club…

The central defender has been in fine form this season making 26 appearances and finding the net on three occasions. The 25-year-old has become a firm fans’ favourite at The Showgrounds and has agreed a two-and-a-half-year extension to his contract.

This means the former QPR trainee is tied down to the club until 2021 and boss Oran Kearney has confirmed that O’Donnell has been named as vice-captain.

“This new deal is a testament to the fine form that Stephen has produced this season,” Kearney said.

“Since he arrived, he has been a big part of our team and we were keen to tie him down.

“Negotiations only took two minutes and he has been a dream to work with.

“He will take the vice-captain role and his leadership skills are a real asset for us.”

O’Donnell admits he is ‘delighted’ with the news and can’t wait to further his career with the Bannsiders.

“I am delighted to get the deal sorted,” O’Donnell added.

“I am thoroughly enjoying my time at Coleraine and it was an easy decision.

“Everyone at the club has been great with me and the players are a great bunch of lads to be around.”
